Spiced Apple Cider Donuts

With the sweet tang of reduced apple cider paired with the warming flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice, these Spiced Apple Cider Donuts are the ideal fall treat. Enjoying them is even easier than making them

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions:

Simmer the apple cider in a saucepan over medium heat until it reduces to half a cup

Let it cool

Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice in a mixing bowl

Beat eggs, melted butter, reduced apple cider, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl

After adding the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, thoroughly mix them together

Preheat vegetable oil to 350F 175C in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot

Portion the doughnut batter into the heated oil by spoonfuls, and cook for two to three minutes on each side, or until golden brown

Using a slotted spoon, remove and place on paper towels to drain

For the coating, combine cinnamon and powdered sugar in a different bowl

Roll the donuts in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat them evenly while they are still warm
