Ingredients:
- 2 cups almond milk
- 2 teaspoons loose leaf black tea or 2 black tea bags
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 whole cloves
- 4 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
- 1 inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or sweetener of choice optional
- Ground cinnamon, for garnish optional
Instructions:
Black tea, cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom pods, and ginger should all be mixed together in a small saucepan
Over medium-low heat, stir the mixture every now and then to make it simmer slowly
Once it starts to simmer, turn down the heat to low and let it sit for five minutes to let the flavors soak in
Take the milk chai out of the heat and strain it through a cheesecloth or a fine mesh sieve to get rid of the tea leaves and spices
You can add maple syrup or any other sweetener you like
Put the chai almond milk into mugs, and if you want, sprinkle some ground cinnamon on top
Enjoy while hot
